Kitchen Tips

For busy nurses, these little kitchen tips can make a lot of difference in bringing out the best in you as a health-and-house keeper.

Tip #1        Clean and Crisp Salad anytime

Always have fresh vegetables ready for salad anytime. Let them sit in cold water for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with running water. Strain and shake off excess water, then keep them in plastic bags and similar containers with cover. The moisture will keep them crisp and fresh for few days. You may cut then in portions for your serving as soon as you are ready to have a fresh bowl of salad with your favorite dressing.

Preparation time: 2-5 minutes

Tip #2           Fresh condiments all year round

Keep your condiments available and fresh all year round by freezing those fresh herbs available during the season. You may keep your condiments and spices fresh longer by keeping them by the refrigerator door. For smaller families, do not buy them in large containers, it is more economical to buy and store in smaller containers.
